In light of the weather across the UK and Europe there are a number of flight cancellations, delays and airport closures.

  • London Heathrow, Gatwick  & City – operating with cancellations and delays
  • Edinburgh and Glasgow – currently closed with assessment of runways scheduled for 10am and 11am respectively
  • Aberdeen and Prestwick – operating with cancellations and delays
  • Dublin and Belfast – operating with cancellations and delays

British Airways has introduced a policy to assist customers:

“If you are due to travel on any short haul service up to and including Sunday 4 March, regardless of whether your flight is currently showing as operating or not, you can rebook your flight to a later date and travel on dates up to and including Wednesday 21 March.

In addition, if you are due to travel on a long haul service to or from London Heathrow up to and including Sunday 4 March, regardless of whether your flight is currently showing as operating or not, you can rebook your flight to a later date and travel on dates up to and including Wednesday 21 March.

If you have some flexibility in when you can travel, we would strongly encourage you to take advantage of these extra options.

UK and Irish airports are also continuing to experience difficult weather conditions and we expect flights to and from Edinburgh, Glasgow and Dublin on Thursday 1 March to be particularly affected.

We have published our revised schedules for Thursday and have notified affected customers and offered them alternative flights or refunds. We will publish amendments to our Friday schedules as early as we can on Thursday morning.”

The weather continues to be unpredictable and the travel situation will continue to change. We will ensure that we keep our website travel alerts and Twitter feed updated throughout the rest of this week, and particularly over the weekend.
