Canadian Electronic Travel Authorisation
Earlier this year the Canadian government introduced an Electronic Travel Authorisation for customers flying into or transiting at any Canadian point. All arriving customers travelling on a visa-exempt passport, which includes most UK and other European nationals, need to obtain an eTA through the Canadian government website in advance. British Airways offers triple Avios points
BA is offering triple Avios points on flights taken by December 11th. Members will earn the points on all flights in all cabins, as well as on flights taken between Europe and North America with partners American Airlines, Finnair and Iberia.
British Airways launches free First Upgrade
British Airways has launched its First Upgrade promotion, offering a free one-way upgrade to First Class for customers booking a return Club World ticket. The flights must be booked by December 11th for outbound travel by December 23rd and return by December 30th.
British Airways cuts second meal option in economy
In more BA news, the airline will no longer provide a second meal for economy travellers on flights under eight and a half hours. This will affect a number of routes, including those to the US East Coast. The carrier also confirmed that newspapers will be removed from the gates on inbound short haul services, but will continue to be available to all customers on flights leaving London and in airline lounges.
Portuguese airline TAP extends London services
The airline has increased the number of flights operating to and from London Gatwick. The carrier will add two frequencies to its Gatwick – Porto route, taking the number of weekly flights between the two destinations to 14.
Hilton to open ‘rainforest’ hotel
Hilton is to open a new hotel in Dubai with a rainforest, rooftop aquarium and infinity sky pool. The property will feature exotic plants, mist sprays and an artificial beach. It will be the world’s first hotel to feature its own rainforest when it opens in 2018.
AccorHotels unveils ‘millennial’ brand
AccorHotels has launched Jo&Joe – a new brand to appeal to the younger traveller. It aims to have 50 properties open by 2020 with locations popular with Millennial, including Paris, Warsaw and Budapest. The hotel will offer a digital ecosystem with a design to replicate a private rental, hostel and hotel in one.
