Hurricane Helene developed in the North Atlantic and is forecast to hit Ireland today (Monday 17 September) and then Northern Ireland, Scotland and northern parts of England on Tuesday (18 September).

Heavy rainfalls are to be expected beforehand, which may cause floods, flash floods and landslides. Due to high winds, storm damage is possible in the areas directly affected by the tropical storm.

General travel and air-traffic disruptions are to be expected.
