Sixty Second Staff Spotlight...

In this issue of G-NEWS, we've turned the staff spotlight on Senior Travel Consultant, Darren Spicer, giving a face to the name so many clients know from their daily dealings with us.

Guitar man, Darren, is a seasoned business travel professional and has been with Giles Travel for over 5 years. He and his team are constantly praised for their personal service and deliver huge savings across the entire travel portfolio. Here’s what we found out in our sixty seconds:

Q: What's your proudest achievement?
A: Reaching the final of the "Guitarist of the Year" competition at the Birmingham NEC a few years back. A kind of low-budget X-Factor for guitar geeks!!

Q: Who would you be on Stars In Their Eyes?
A: Bob Dylan......surely even I could sing better than that?!!

Q: What's the most unusual thing you've ever drunk / eaten?
A: Jellyfish in Hong Kong....the texture reminded me of that rubbery glue they use to stick CDs to the front of magazines!

Q: What are you most likely to say?
A: Something inappropriate.

Q: And least likely to say?
A: I'm loving this new teetotal, vegan lifestyle change.

Q: What's the favourite part of your job?
A: Appreciation for those times when you know you've exceeded a client's expectations and managed to help them out.

Q: How do you get your own way?
A: I seldom do!

Q: Which person would you most like to be stuck in a lift with?
A: Angelina Jolie.........surely Lara Croft could have us out of there in no time! (...why else did you think?)

Q: If you could change one thing about the business travel industry, what would it be?
A: An end to the constant strikes by airlines, air traffic controllers, baggage handlers etc etc......our job is difficult enough without that lot adding to it!

Q: If you didn't work in travel, what would you do?
A: Try and persuade my wife to support my decision to be a house-husband!!

Q: Who or what is your biggest influence?
A: David Giles - a true Saint amongst men (...now then, about that pay rise......?!)
